LS Fest - Bob Bertelsen

I returned this morning around 1am from Holley LS Fest in Bowling Green KY. It was an awesome event with autocross, speed stop, drag racing, a cruise and a car show. Brute Force was competing for the over all championship, which means you have to compete in everything. My friend Tom McKenzie and I arrived early Friday morning and got the car teched at the drag strip and autocross. I then had some time before the racing started and headed to find the car judging. I was only there about 5 minutes and I was done with the judging. I autocrossed, drag raced and speed stopped Brute Force all 3 days. My best autocross was a 44.353, (Kyle tucker was the winner with a 41.9??), so I was 2 1/2 seconds out of first. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a lot. Speed stop I was having trouble and finally ran a good time of 8.9 seconds, but slide out of the box by about 6", so I settled for my previous run of 9.8, not good. drag racing, I had trouble getting off the line, but finally managed a 12.117 time. I am not sure where I finished over all as the results have not been posted.

Sunday at 3 PM, the car show awards started. There are about 15 awards. I thought I might have a chance at winning my class, "Early Compitition", but when they got to that award they called another name. The awards where winding down and they said they had one more award "Best of Show" I was pleasantly surprised when they called my name. I imagine the car show participants were not happy that a racer won best of show. For winning I received a 4ft trophy, a jacket, a case of oil and a $500 check. (SWEET!) As most of you know, I am not short on words to say, I talk a lot, but when they asked about the car, I went blank, I was still in shock of winning. I fumbled through a few aspects of the car, but forgot many things I should have said. Anyhow, I was blessed to receive such a high honor.

Attached are a few pictures of Brute Force running autocross.

This coming weekend I will be in Pigeon Forge TN racing and then to Indy Good Guys show.
